Back in Business

Readers, fellow bloggers, people of the net – we are 3 days in to 2014 and I’m still without a calendar, own no diary and ate a whole pack of cookies before my chicken and chips tonight.

My hopes and aspirations for this year are supposed to be to grow up. I’m going to learn to cook a few healthy meals, dabble with a bit of box room interior design and I may even begin that novel I’ve been scribbling in notes since last Summer!

To be able to achieve all of the above I am in need of three very important factors:

1) Inspiration: – Excuse the boring old cliché but it’s true. On those days when willpower just isn’t enough to kick you into gear you need something (or someone) to remind you why you’re doing what you’re doing. SO..What exactly is my inspiration? Or who..?

This is my 2014 mood board – in all of it’s hope and glory! From Vegas to a new bedroom to my boo Bey…this year is the year I get my shit together.

2) Plans: – Keeping busy is the key to a happy life. Some people keep on the ‘No New Friends’ path but I’m not about that hermit life anymore. This year will be my busiest yet…

3) #WERK: – Without working my arse off I won’t be able to do all the things I dream of doing to get my big-girl life set up! Hustle on!

Spot The Ghetto Booty…

More and more I’m finding myself killing myself doing hundreds of squats a day and spending hours on my Bun & Thigh Wave Machine. Every sweaty, painful moment I’m wondering why I’m so obsessed with thick, toned ghetto booty’s but then instantly remember hot chickas such as Coco Austin, Khloe Kardashian, Beyoncé and, of course, the original booty queen herself -J Lo!

The accessory of the season is a perky, toned ass. Whether you like it or not it’s time to get that sexy hourglass shape ladies!

It’s nice to see a body shape being celebrated that isn’t a size 0!

Just look at that front row. The Grammy’s was of course full to the brim with red hot sexy talent but this mono-four take things to a level of their own. Monochrome is everything right now:

If I were to rock this mono-trend on a night out, whether it be for a date, dinner or partying I’d wear my favourite dress straight from my Mum’s closet! I have no idea where she got it or what for but it’s perfect! It’s almost -100 degrees outside in Britain this week with that Siberian breeze so I’ve teamed it with black ASOS Leggings and a saucy pair of stilettos I bought in a boutique in San Diego! Of course, I loved Khloé’s nails so much I got mine done the same! How would you style Monochromatic Sexiness???

Kinga Sektas – Handmade Jewellery Review

Handmade jewellery has always had the unique ability to turn your outfit into something less factory made and more for you.

This week I discovered the amazing service that comes with ordering from online boutique Kinga Sektas.

The variety on the website is enough to send you into jewellery overload but once you note the prices, the excitement kicks in. With pieces from as little as £3.50 I didn’t really know where to start; I just knew I needed some earrings.

Recently writing an article for Britain’s No1 Handmade Jewellery magazine about how Kinga Sektas uses only cruelty-free feathers in her materials got me extremely intrigued in such products. Opting for the Hot Pink & Yellow Flamingo Feather Earrings, I checked-out.

In the space of 24 hours of ordering I had received a welcome e-mail from the boutique, a confirmation and invoice, a thank you note and a very exciting Valentine’s Gift message. Not only did Kinga (owner and jewellery creator at Kinga Sektas Boutique) dispatch what I chose and paid for she also sent me the Alicia Sequin Earrings.

Noticing from my blogs what a huge fan of the Kardashian’s I am, she remembered a customer who came to her before and asked for a set of earrings to be made just like the ones Kim wore in the Kardashian Kristmas Kard last year!

Less than 48 hours after my order was placed I was signing for my shiny package. The postman is getting used to my wonderful deliveries that come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours!

Opening the parcel, I realised what a perfect gift this would make for someone, too. Inside was a branded box with lush hot pink wrapping paper, finished with a hot pink ribbon and gold certified sticker. Not too shabby for Shelby!

So inside were my two pairs of earrings, of course. From the pictures of the Alicia earrings I thought they’d be quite heavy on the lobe but they actually only weigh 12g and I actually forgot I was wearing them after a while. My pet hate with long dangling earrings in the winter is that they get cold and then make you jump out of your skin when they touch your neck! That, you will happy to know, doesn’t happen with these as they are entirely made out of sequins. I wore them on Valentine’s Day with my hair down but I’d also wear them with my hair in a tight bun to make more of a statement on a night out.

These are available in silver, cream and pink as well as black so can pretty much be an option for any outfit and most occassions; the Swarovski element make them that bit more for special events.

The flamingo feather earrings are just as light, just as gentle but add much more drama to your outfit! If you’re looking for an ice-breaker piece, or a pair of earrings that get converation started, I would opt for these! The first thing that anyone mentions when I wear them are, “Nice earrings!” To which I gladly respond with something about geuine flamingo feathers, etc. You get the point.

I was worried when I bought them though. What would I wear them with? I know Tulisa, Andrea Gomez and Gwyneth Paltrow are a fan of pink feathers:

But I am neither rich nor famous so nobody cares if I’m inadvertently seeking attention through my earrings! So I wore a very black outfit with them and let them dance their own salsa, so to speak:

Kendall Say What?!

As celebrity stalking goes, I am up there as one of the most obsessed when it comes to the Kardashians.

Ever since Keeping up with the Kardashians started all those years ago I, like the rest of you, have been highly entertained by this family and find it fun to see the new Jenner Jeneration now coming into their own.

We’ve seen Kylie and Kendall Jenner go from this:

There is no doubt about it, these cool cats are GROWN!

But, have they got what their mogul sisters have to last in this nitty gritty business? They’ve always been bratty, and can sometimes even seem stuck-up on some episodes of Keeping Up and yesterday, Kendall let rip on the paps via her Twitter account!

Over three consecutive Tweets, Kendall wrote:

“there’s nothing that irritates me more than when people take pics of me/my family/ or anyone in this industry and do not ask.”

“don’t sit there taking pics of me as if I’m a statue, or an artifact in a museum. I can see you and it makes me uncomfortable.”

“I’m a human being and it’s very rude not to ask. you wouldn’t appreciate it either”

Waaaait a minute?! The same paps that keep your family relevant? The paps that therefore get you your modelling jobs? The paps that can’t get enough of your million dollar family empire??

THE SAME PAPS YOU POSE FOR ON A DAILY BASIS, VOLUNTARILY?!

Point made, although, she does seem to be the shy, sulky one in the family (unless she’s in her bathing suit looking fierce on the runway). If she wants the paps to disappear she may want to consult Kim on that one.

Talking of Kim and her millions, guess who just bagged herself an $11 MILLION abode?! (That’s £7 Million if you’re reading from the UK!)

“It’s True!! Kanye & I Are Expecting A Baby”

Kongratulations, Kimye!

New Years Eve was a fabu day to be part of the K-Klan this year as the superstar finally confirmed her and Kanye West’s pregnancy on her website after the rapper blurted it out on stage in Atlanta.

Almost a year after Kourtney and Scott revealed they were expecting their baby girl, Penelope, Kim is now 12 weeks along with her own bundle of joy.

Of course, the Twittersphere responded almost immediately, including Kim’s mum, Kris Jenner who tweeted, “Oh BABY BABY BABY!!” ( @KrisJenner )

Her sisters were just as eager to jump on the Twitter-Wagon;

After what has seemed a rollercoaster of a love life, Kim finally seems settled and after years of friendship her and Kanye are now set to start a family.

Opening up about the preganancy, Kim told ET Online “When people say that pregnancy is fun and they love it I would have to  disagree…”

She continued, “I heard it’s all worth it, so I’m looking forward to that…[Pregnancy is] about learning about your body, but I’ve felt really good.”

However good Kim may be feeling, fans may be disappointed to find out that she is NOT planning on giving birth in front of the cameras that usually documents her life for reality show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’.

The E! Network super-boss Suzanne Kolb may be trying to change that though, saying: “Like so many Kardashian fans, we love it when this close-knit family gets even bigger… We look forward to sharing the joy as they prepare for more diapers…and, without a doubt, more fabulous baby wear!”

Kardashian Meltdown

So much is being reported these days I’m finding it increasingly difficult to actually Keep Up With The Kardashians.

Khloé has been rumoured to be joining the X Factor USA for quite some time now and everyday I see new stories with the same headlines on them:

‘Khloé Joins Mario Lopez As X Factor Host?’

‘Simon Picked Khloé?’

‘Are Khloé & Mario New X Factor Hosts?’

I DON’T KNOW! Why are these people asking me? I’m looking to them for the news not the questions. Anyway, according to The National Enquirer, the delay may have something to do with Kris, Kim and Kourtney.

In a nutshell…

Kim and Kourtney apparently have a bee in their bonnet about Khloé’s hypocrisy of branching out on her own. When Kim went off to do her own fragrances, TV appearances and other lines of work Khloé vented publicly of her resentment. And according to the American mag, Kourtney feels let down by Khloé because she feels if her sister takes on the X Factor job she will have no time to commit to the new spin-off show they are currently filming. Furthermore, Kris is getting tired of their bickering but is obviously encouraging Khloé’s X Factor involvement as her momager (so she gets her 10% cut)!

Nicht gut.

Somehow I doubt that Mr Cowell is patiently tapping his foot and ordering another coffee whilst waiting for the sisters to work out their little problems. He loves a bit of X Factor attention and suspense to keep people interested. It’s probably all a done deal and they’re all sitting back laughing at us lot who are keeping tabs and waiting for the announcement.

But imagine…

Khloé as host. Britney as a judge. This may be the first X Factor season I’ll actually be into!

In more Kardashian news…It’s all getting a bit weird with ‘Kimye’.

According to an article in the Inquisitr yesterday, Kimye are cooling off their relationship as the constant scrutiny from the press is getting between them. Hokayy. Whilst I don’t believe that’s any reason for two of the most famous people in the world to ‘cool off’ their relationship, I still think this is a good idea mainly for the sake of Kim’s image.

Since Kim and Kayne have been joined at the hip he has been her stylist and advisor (for a reason I can’t quite make up yet). I hope Kim goes back to styling herself because shoes like this are happening to her and I feel sorry for her;

So, after cooling off her realtionship with Kanye, Kim has got a lot closer to someone super cute, super adorable and… super fluffy? Meet Mercy;

Moving on…

Khloe and Lamar celebrated their 3-year wedding anniversary in simple style by attending the same restuarant in which they had their rehearsal dinner in! Lamar said to E! that they ‘hung out there for a little bit and went home’. I won’t start gushing about how much I love these two, again, so I’ll just say congrats and, again, move on…

And lastly, we have Kourtney News. Rumours are rife that she and Scott are on the rocks for like the 100th time and he’s not involved in the Kardashian Khristmas Kard…blah blah blah… but what I want to know is…

Where has Kourt’s sense of style gone since giving birth to baby Penelope?

If At First You Don’t Succeed…

Currently dabbing my eyes dry trying to pull myself together after yet another disappointing  response from my writing tutor.

The more time, effort and assignments I submit into this course, the more negative the comments from my tutor are. I’m not sure what the deal is and I’ve been contemplating whether to give it all up or not..

To quit or not to quit.

Why should I quit? Writing is something I love to do; just like actors love acting and singers love to sing! To motivate myself I’ve been trying to remind myself of all the other times in my life where I’ve had no choice but to fight; giving up wasn’t an option.

Aged 12 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and wondered how I’d ever cope without chocolate bars, jam sandwiches and Coco Pops for breakfast. I was forced to suddenly inject myself up to 4/5 times a day every time I ate and planning physical activities to the minute for maximum control. Even now, after nearly 9 years, I get times when I just sit, staring at the wall contemplating to give it up altogether. It’s so much effort. Why me? When will it end? What can I do?

After much time spent deeply breathing and counting to 10 I come back to reality with a thud. What the hell am I talking about? If I give up on Diabetes I basically give up on life. Absolutely ridiculous.

When else have I not given up?

Another health scare couple of years later meant I had to have major surgery on my spine in 2006. If I’d have given up then I’d be crippled in a wheelchair by now. Good choice to carry on…

Parents divorcing after that…

GCSEs soon followed (I got 4 A’s after studying through the rows at home)..

Tedious apprenticeship after that (finishing with distinctions almost a year early)…

Sure we moan about the various stages in life as they happen but really what other choice do we have? Life is super hard but it’s a test of who we are as individuals to weed out the real successes from the bums!

So NO! Don’t give up… Never say never and strive to prove those who say you CAN’T that actually you CAN!!
